Title: Pre-acquisition of system parameters Date Submitted: May 09, 2007 Presented at IEEE session #20 in Montreal Authors or Source(s): Jin Lee Abstract: Discuss pre-acquisition of system parameters and adopt it We have discussed this last time, and I come back with revised proposal to capture comments from last meeting

3 Motivation and objectives
Understand how system Information interval affects synchronization delay during handover [802.16] Reduce Handover latency by minimizing synchronization time Possibly consider adapting same way to other networks I want to show how system information can affect .16 handover first Because I got the motivation from side, and check possibly adapt to other network as well

4 Handover to 802.16 Max 10s interval Every 5ms Frame
Mobile node is connected .11 network but link going down from the serving network is sent. Mobile node start scan which available network could be near its side and .16 network is detected, possibly 16 BS sends DL-MAP and UL-MAP which indicate data burst allocation. It is usually advertised periodically every frame

5 Handover between 802.16 networks
2 4 6 8 10 12 Synchronization latency (S) DCD interval (s) Effect of varying DCD and UCD interval on synchronization latency UCD interval=1s UCD interval=2s UCD interval=5s UCD interval=10s Source : => UCD and DCD are the significant factors in synchronization latency. If these parameters are obtained untimely, serious handover latency could be expected even in heterogeneous handover

6 3GPP LTE Initial access during HO
System Information Block => It shows that pre-acquisition of system information facilitates handover

7 3GPP system information blocks / 3GPP2 system parameters
Information valid across multiple cells, Information needed at cell/PLMN search, Information needed prior to cell camping, Information needed before cell access, Information needed while camping on a cell 3gpp2 system parameters PILOT_PN SID - system identification NID - network identification BASE_ID BASE_CLASS,,
