Title of Subject: Burro - Powered Last Reviewed Date: November 2015 SAFE WORK INSTRUCTIONS The following safe work instructions in NOT INTENDED to replace hands on training requirements of the code of federal regulations. The intent is to provide an overview of known potential safety hazards associated with equipment operation. Hands on training with an experienced operator on each specific model must be conducted. The trainee can not proceed onto production until they are determined ready to proceed by the supervisor of the training. Before any operation or maintenance procedure is performed with or on this equipment, it is important that personnel have a complete understanding of the location and functions of all controls and indicators, as well as, the location and use of all emergency shutdown controls and procedures Steps for Initial SWI Training: Prepare – Review the SWI. Present – Quick Card with experienced operator. Tryout – Person performs task with supervision in non production. Follow up – Competency points are verified by supervisor and is signed by the trainee/trainer to complete the training. Title: Burro - Powered SAFE WORK INSTRUCTIONS KEY POINTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Pre-ops: Check the tires, load platform, tram/directional levers, fire extinguishers and batteries. Ensure that the platform is secured with the locking device. Make a visual examination of your work area and tram path. Scale loose roof or ribs as needed. Remove any obstacles in your intended tram path. Loading/Unloading Supplies: Ensure that the item or items being loaded do not exceed the capacity of the equipment. Block or bind loads when necessary. Ensure that load height does not block vision. Utilize proper body positioning and safe lifting techniques. Loads should be placed in the center of the unit to prevent unexpected movement. Tramming/Parking: Sound the audible alarm prior to tramming. Never park the burro in front of a door or travel path. Notify others in or around your work area of your intended movement. Utilize flashing blue lights if equipment can enter into your work area. Verify that all persons are in the clear prior to tramming. Charging: Charge unit according to the manufactures recommendations. Only charge the unit in designated locations.
