6 1. Ground water Sewer systems
The soil contains water. This water may be at a level where it can endanger the building (foundation). So normally a drain is laid around buildings to drain the water away. This is denounced perimeter drain. TCU/VIA 6th semester workshop Types of water

Types of water

12 1. Rain water Sewer systems
Rain water must be lead away from the roof and stair wells of the building. Down sprouts leads the rain water into rain water pipes, which takes the water to receptors for clean water. This may be the sea or lakes or into constructions which keeps the water on the ground where it can sink into the ground. Frost free depth is min 750 mm, 300 mm if dry pipes, slope min. so that the pipes can be self cleaning. ( min. 20 o/oo) TCU/VIA 6th semester workshop Types of water

13 Sewer systems Rain water must be kept on the plot as much as possible not to exceed the max capacity of the storm pipes. A fascine can be established. This is made from larger stones, gravel or more modern from plastic. TCU/VIA 6th semester workshop Wavin fascine Types of water

14 1. Sewer water Sewer systems
Black water coming from house hold, toilets and others contaminating sources must be taken to treatment plants. In the treatment plants solids are removed and oxygen is added and further chemical or biological treatment may be imposed. TCU/VIA 6th semester workshop Types of water
