Read p69 – 73 Complete the chart on the next slide for the 1979, 1997 and 2010 elections. Make a presentation showing why the winners won and the losers lost the elections of 1979, 1997 and 2010. Read p73 – 76 and make a spider diagram on Voting Patterns: Social class and voting Class de-alignment Why class has decreased in importance as a factor in voting Partisan de-alignment Political apathy Governing competency Rational choice theory Image of party leaders (photogenics)

3 Make a spider diagram on ‘other factors that influence voting behaviour.’ Use lots of colours and pictures. Read p76 – 80 and use your own research Include in your spider diagram: Age Ethnicity Region Religion Levels of education Wealth Class You will also need to show how these factors have changed over time. E.g. Labour was originally the party for the less educated. That has changed and it is the more educated who are now likely to vote for the Labour party.
