2 Photography competition for KG, KS1, KS2 & staff

3 This year the entries for our photography competition can be anything to do with ‘Oman’. Here are some photographs to inspire you…

4 You could driving down the road when you spot a camel…

5 You take a great shot of a dolphin…

6 Maybe you capture a beautiful sunrise…

7 Or you take a great picture of a mountain, the beach…

8 or an ancient fort?

9 To enter the competition: Firstly, please make sure you were the photographer, not your mother, brother, uncle… Print your photograph so that it is 13cm X 18cm and bring it into school during Science Week. There will be members of the Primary Science Team outside Ms. Wendy’s classroom every morning and they will have cards, on which you can stick your photographs and write your name and class.

10 The deadline for bringing in your photographs will be Wednesday, 22nd March. A small prize for the best photograph in each year group will be awarded in Primary assembly when we return from the break. All the entries will be put on display for everyone to appreciate and admire the talented photographers of the primary school.

11 Motto competition for KG, KS1 and KS2.

12 As you all know, The Sultan’s School is going green
As you all know, The Sultan’s School is going green. We are looking for people to put forward suggestions for a new green motto which sums up our commitment to helping the environment. It can be in English or Arabic, up to you! The motto should be short enough to fit under the school badge.

13 What is a motto? mot·to ˈmädō/ noun a short sentence or phrase chosen as encapsulating the beliefs or ideals guiding an individual, family, or institution. "the school motto, “Serve and obey”"

Please give your motto to Mr. David (Classroom U10) by Thursday, 23rd March. Do not forget to write your full name and class on the piece of paper. The Green Flag committee will then look through all of the entries and pick the one that we feel best represents our school’s green vision.

17 THEY’RE BACK!!! Rubber Band Racers
Following the success of last year’s rubber band powered car race, this year’s design and technology competition is to build BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER elastic band powered cars to rival those of last year! A quick Google search will provide you with all the information and inspiration you need. A great website to start you off is...

18 Rubber Band Racers Rules:
Cars should be designed and created at home with or without the help of an adult. Cars must be powered only by rubber bands Cars should be made from everyday materials and be able to travel in a straight line for a distance of at least 4 metres within a 2 metre wide track. Cars should be clearly labelled with name and class and brought to school no later than Monday, 20th March 2016

19 Small prizes for the winners in KS1 and KS2 will be awarded.
Rubber Band Racers On Tuesday and Wednesday racers will attempt to qualify for a place in Thursday’s final. Qualifying rounds will be held on the basketball court at breaktime on these days On Thursday the finalists will compete during an extended flag to see whose car travels the furthest. Small prizes for the winners in KS1 and KS2 will be awarded.

20 Design an APP Competition
Could you be the next Tech Billionaire? All it takes is a great idea!!! Think of all the apps we use today, from the games you play to the apps that help us stay in touch and organise our lives. Can you think of an app that could change our lives?

21 How to enter... KG and Key Stage 1 Key Stage 2
Ask your teacher for a “Create a Tablet” entry pack. Cut out, colour and decorate your tablet using the icons provided or you can create your own! Make sure you have an adult around to help you use the scissors if you need to! Make sure you have labelled your tablet with your name and class. Hand your finished tablet in to your homeroom teacher before Wednesday 22nd March. First, choose whether you will enter by yourself or in a small group (up to 3). Next, ask your teacher for a “Design an App” entry pack. This pack will have the templates for you to use for your design. Try to give as much detail and information about your app as possible. If you need more paper please use A4 and make sure you have written your name(s) and class on it and submit it with the templates. Hand your finished app design in to your homeroom teacher before Wednesday 22nd March.

22 So remember!!! The deadline for bringing in your entries for the photography and Design an App competitions will be Wednesday, 22nd March. Rubber Band Racers should be brought in no later than Monday 20th March ready to start competing on Tuesday at break. Prizes for the best entries in the Photography and Design an App competitions will be awarded in Primary assembly when we return from the break. All the entries will be put on display for everyone to appreciate and admire the talented photographers and designers of the primary school.
