Freedom of Information Act (H.3163)
Public hearings being held by the House Judiciary Special Laws Subcommittee Change time required for providing a response to a FOIA request from fifteen to seven days Prohibit charging for staff time associated with response to request Limiting copying costs to local market rate Establishing 30-day limit to provide FOIA materials from date of original request FOIA complaint can be filed with magistrate’s court for enforcement of request

School Security S.249 – Require a state-funded school resource
officer in each school Beginning in Supplied by city and county governments District pays cost using state allocation S.162 – Allow schools to offer firearm markmanship as an elective H.3160 – Allow school employees who hold concealed weapons permit to carry firmarms in schools with Board approval

Resolution - Local Option Sales and Use Tax
“NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Consolidated School District of Aiken County requests that our Aiken County Legislative Delegation to the South Carolina General Assembly support and encourage passage of legislation for a local option sales and use tax for school facilities or amend The Education Capital Improvements Sales and Use Tax Act [Section , et seq.] by deleting Section thereof, thus giving it broad, statewide applicability, including The Consolidated School District of Aiken County. Either of which will allow the registered voters of Aiken County to decide whether to approve a one cent local option sales and use tax for school facilities within The Consolidated School District of Aiken County.”
