William is criticizing the industrial revolution for being greedy and stepping away from nature
William is very angry at the world for going against nature. So much so that he wished he was a Pagan so he could have a different view of the world.

In this poem, the speaker is obsessed with nature. The speaker gets so upset that people are consumed by consumerism and no longer still have love for nature. He feels that we don’t deserve the beauty of nature.
