1 Assignments and Guidelines:
Geometric Rockets- 1 Assignments and Guidelines: In class, you will draw and color a poster-sized rocket. Here is a list of your assignments: Use all the geometric shapes listed below to draw a rocket. Make a small drawing, which must be done accurately on a piece of project paper measuring 8 ½ by 5 ½ inches (fold the paper in half, cut it and share it with someone else). Draw the rocket using only a pencil, a ruler, a protractor, and a compass. Use at least one of each shape that is listed; however, you may use many more of each. Now, draw the rocket on the poster paper much bigger than you did on the small paper so that it takes up the majority of the space. After you complete the big drawing, measure the lines from which your shapes are made. Record all the lengths, right on the poster. Using the formulas for area given, find the total area of your rocket. Your may have to divide some of the larger shapes into smaller ones to find the area. Keep the calculations and answers neatly organized on a separate sheet of paper. Exchange rockets and find the total area of another person’s rocket. Keep all calculations organized on a separate sheet of paper. When you find the area, return the rocket to its creator while keeping your calculations. Record your partner’s name on your work. Color your rocket. Be creative. Calculate a ratio of each shape used for the total rocket. Create an organized table of the information on the poster. Calculate the percentage of each shape used for the total rocket. Create an organized table of the information on the poster.
