1 “Some Twitter Users Embrace Longer Tweets; Some Stay Terse”

2 Editing down your thoughts to cram them into a single tweet can be painful. Now, Twitter users might find that process half as painful. In early September, Twitter announced it was moving on from its "arbitrary" 140-character limit by doubling the amount of characters a tweet can contain to 280. Some users were instantly skeptical — after all, they had signed up for a website whose defining features were, brevity and speed. Until this week, only a select group of Twitter users were able to tweet past the 140 character count in a trial period. Now, the 280 character feature has been rolled out for the entirety of the platform. The company cited language differences in its decision to expand. In character-based languages such as Chinese and Japanese, "you can convey about double the amount of information in one character as you can in many other languages, like English, Spanish, or French," wrote Rosen. Twitter says its research shows us that the 140 character limit was a major cause of frustration for people tweeting in English, but not in Japanese. For these reasons, says Rosen, the character count for tweeting in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese won't be doubled. A fierce competitor on the mound, Roy Halladay was generous and gentle away from the field. The eight-time All-Star loved his family, baseball and flying. Halladay's passion for piloting cost him his life Tuesday when his private plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. He was 40. Halladay was the only person on the two-seater plane when it crashed. A 911 call came in at 12:06 p.m. ET saying that a small plane had crashed. There were no distress calls. Less than a month ago, Roy Halladay shared a tweet from aircraft maker ICON Aircraft, that the company had just delivered its first 2018 A5 plane to the former pitcher. A day later, Halladay posted beautiful videos from the cockpit of that plane as he soared through the sky. That was the plane that Halladay was flying Tuesday afternoon. The A5 is unusual. The plane is built to take off and land conventionally on a runway, but also in the water. It is still under investigation to determine exactly what happened. Former Philadelphia Phillies teammates, coaches and fans mourned the sudden loss of the beloved former player, who was known for his tireless work ethic. Fans left pictures, candles and notes outside the stadium to honor Halladay, who pitched four years with the Phillies.

Some Apple users have discovered a bug that automatically corrects the lower-case letter "i" to "A" and a question mark symbol. The issue appears to impact iPhone users on its most recent mobile software, iOS The new software launched last Tuesday and features hundreds of new emoji. Not surprisingly, the bug is frustrating many Apple users. Apple said in its support post the error will be fixed in a future software update. It's not uncommon for new software to have bugs.
