5 Special features of grasslands
Grasslands offer the most opportunities to farmers Since grassland biomes have rich soil, much of them are used for farming. There is only 2% of the original grassland left in North America. Tropical grassland biomes are in the Southern Hemisphere while temperate grassland biomes are in the Northern Hemisphere. Periodic fires, whether they are human induced or occur spontaneously, are very important to the grassland to ensure that invasive plants do not take over. Math,

6 Plant adaptations Grasses in temperate grasslands have special roots that allow them to be grazed all the way to the ground They have long, narrow leaves, extensive roots, soft stems, and can even go dormant to survive their tough environment They have adapted how they grow and spread their pollen and seeds so that more plants can live in this habitat Google Search, Google, lands burning &oq=grass lands burning &gs_l=img j gws-wiz-img j0i67j0i10j0i8i30j0i10i24.nVIDZtfgyTU.

7 Animal adaptations   flat-topped teeth and digestive systems especially adapted to feed on grasses Many prairie animals have front legs and paws that allow them to burrow into the ground, where they are protected from predators. The grouping of herds is one adaptation for safety Birds have incredibly keen eyesight with an ability to differentiate colors Google Search, Google, lands burning &oq=grass lands burning &gs_l=img j gws-wiz-img j0i67j0i10j0i8i30j0i10i24.nVIDZtfgyTU.

9 Special characteristics and sensitivities
It’s only in the last 30 years that scientists have begun to understand the immense value of temperate grasslands. The habitats are changing quickly, so seeing these vast, open spaces now means experiencing landscapes and wildlife that may soon be threatened by population growth.
