4 Experimental Halls at Jefferson Lab
Experimental Program Planned for the Next Ten Years All Halls have collected 12 GeV Data and have operational experience to report that influence computing needs Hall B – understanding nucleon structure via generalized parton distributions Hall D – exploring origin of confinement by studying exotic mesons Hall A – form factors, future new experiments (e.g., SoLID and MOLLER) Hall C – precision determination of valence quark properties in nucleons /nuclei Introduction: Jefferson Lab Computing and Software

10 Looking forward…. Will be ramping up to 37 weeks of physics running per year Hurray! With the 12 GeV start-up behind us, this review can look forward towards the 12 GeV program and beyond. Realizing the science requires integration between theory, experiment and advanced data science techniques Three talks on the Future Outlook and gaps: Experimental program (Wood) Scientific Computing (Watson) Links to Phenomenology (Sata) Have also instituted a ‘Grand Challenge’ for computing by grouping existing efforts and LDRD around an organizing principle. Intended to provide a basis for computing and software for the far future, with selected deployments in the late 12 GeV Program An integrated whole-experiment approach to detector readout and analysis towards scientific output will take advantage of multiple existing and emerging technologies.
