Simulation of Compressible Flow around the Bullet Trains
P R O J E C T Engineering EP-255X-X-XX Simulation of Compressible Flow around the Bullet Trains Project Members: Tatiya Sameeyai B Cheerawan Thetchanda B Project Advisor: Assist.Prof.Dr.Keerati Suluksna School of Aeronautical Engineering, Institute of Engineering, Suranaree University of Technology

P R O J E C T Engineering Background Fig.1 The original model of bullet train head is usually encountered with shock effect during it run through the tunnel because of rapidly change in density of air between outside-to-inside zone of tunnel. Fig.2 New model of bullet train head is designed like the king fisher bird to resolve the effect of shock.

P R O J E C T Engineering Objective To Simulate the aerodynamics behavior around the two model of bullet trains, original and kingfisher models, under the condition of compressible flow.

Scopes P R O J E C T Engineering Two models of bullet train heads, original and king fisher model, are determined in the project activities. Three flow speed of 250, 270, 300 km/hr have been investigated in the simulation. The simulation will be investigated under the condition of turbulence compressible flow by means of CFD method with ANSYS Fluent 12.0 Tunnel bore size of 6.4 m will be considered here.

Expectation P R O J E C T Engineering  The behaviors of air flow around the two models of bullet train head, the original and king fisher models, under the conditions of viscous and incompressible flow based on turbulence model prediction.  Comparison results of wall shear stress of two those models due to the skin friction.
