November 7 - 13, 2010 If the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood. (Ezekiel 33:6, New International Version) Weekly World Watch Andy Waltons To skip the introductory slides and go straight to this weeks developments click here.

What is a Weekly World Watch? Israel: The continuing conflict in the Middle East and focus on Jerusalem. Europe: Its developing union, both political and religious. Russia: Its return to anti-Western ways as Bible prophecys king of the north. The UK and the US: Bible prophecys king of the south. Moral standards in decline and violence on the increase. WWW presentations in PowerPoint can be ordered as audio/visual CDs by clicking here. Move your mouse to place the cursor on the blue link and click.clicking here The idea is simple. It is to look at current events and compare them to events spoken of in the Bible.. I hope to build up a picture of Gods hand working in the affairs of this world. God is bringing about a day when all nations will be gathered to Jerusalem to battle. At that time God will send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, back to this earth. Jesus will then establish Gods kingdom on earth. This kingdom will last for ever. This is our hope and the reason we watch. Increasing natural disasters: including earthquake, famine etc The following six themes will appear repeatedly in WWW:

HEADLINE EVENT COMMENT News Photo The source of the headline and the date are included. Each WWW looks at a few key developments that have happened during the past week. It is in no way meant to be exhaustive – just a look at those events I saw as significant from a Biblical point of view. What is in a Weekly World Watch? BIBLE QUOTE This is normally one verse which backs up why the event that has occurred is interesting from a Biblical perspective. Please read in its context. Unless stated otherwise, all quotes are from the King James Version. (Book, chapter, and verse) This is straight from a news report that caught my eye because it looked significant from a Biblical perspective, usually that of prophecy. Every WWW event slide has the following format. To reveal each block of text just left click your mouse or press the space bar. You control when it appears. This is the reporters description of the event. It is always a direct quotation from the news report and reflects the understanding of the reporter and editors. This is my comment on why the event is interesting to a Bible student. The intention of the WWW is to offer brief Biblical perspectives without going into detail. If more detail is desired, please e-mail me: (andy@weeklyworldwatch.co.uk).

Obama leads international condemnation of Israel Israel's volatile relationship with the United States lurched into fresh crisis on Tuesday when Barack Obama led international condemnation of a plan to build 1,300 settler homes in East Jerusalem. The US president chastised Benjamin Netanyahu's government for the decision, which has already prompted Palestinian accusations that the Israeli prime minister is bent on "destroying" peace talks. "This kind of activity is unhelpful when it comes to peace negotiations," Mr Obama said in Jakarta as he began the second leg of his tour of Asian democracies. In a further sign of American anger, Hillary Clinton, the State Department, is to demand an explanation for the building plan, which was unveiled on Monday, when she meets Mr Netanyahu tomorrow (Thurs). The strongest condemnation of the announcement, which appeared to contravene a tacit undertaking made by Israel to avoid inflammatory moves in East Jerusalem, came from Mrs Clinton's aides. Daily Telegraph, November 9, 2010 EVENT COMMENT For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. For it is the day of the LORDS vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. Zion is the mountain in Jerusalem upon which the Temple was built. BIBLE QUOTE We reported last week that the Palestinians made claims to East Jerusalem as their future capital. This week Israel announces a plan to build 1,300 new homes in East Jerusalem. Coincidence? Of course not. The battle for Jerusalem is getting underway. It is beginning by each side making its own claims and counterclaims for it. It then leads to action (as in the building announcement this week). This will then lead to counteraction and increasingly agitated statements from other nations. Bear in mind that just about every nation on earth believes that the Palestinians should have east Jerusalem as their capital. The pressure will intensify on Israel. The Bible foretold a time when Jerusalem would be the centre of a worldwide controversy. It is coming… (Isaiah 34:2+8)

Israel appears defiant, sensing Obama weakness The Democrats' midterm election losses appear to have spurred a shift in a key alliance, with Israel stepping up its resistance to the Obama administration's Mideast peace initiative and efforts to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions. President Obama has pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for months to avoid any move that would set back the peace effort Washington launched Sept. 1. The talks faltered almost immediately over Israel's refusal to extend a partial freeze on building in disputed territories. And on Tuesday, Netanyahu issued a defiant statement of support for a new Jewish construction project in disputed East Jerusalem, rebuffing complaints by Obama. Two days earlier, Netanyahu had delivered a tough speech at a Jewish convention in New Orleans, arguing that Iran needs to be threatened more strongly with military action. His comments suggest growing dissatisfaction with the Obama administration's plan to apply economic sanctions to persuade Iran to accept limits on its nuclear program. Chicago Tribune, November 12, 2010 EVENT COMMENT Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem. This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart BIBLE QUOTE Israel is proud, defiant and has possibly decided to go it alone. Israel appears to want to capitalise on the weakening of Obamas power following the recent elections in America. The spirit of the nation of Judah was one of pride and strength. A reliance in their own power. In words which apply initially to the invasion by the Assyrians but which apply ultimately to the invasion by Gog, Isaiah 8:8 says and shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck. In Zechariah 12:2 the nations are against Judah and Jerusalem. As we read below, the LORD will mar or destroy their pride. In their weakened state they will finally turn to Him in tears… (Ezekiel 26:2)

Report: EU leaders pushing U.S. away from Israel and closer to the Arabs' A report by a leading analyst said the EU has become the most influential lobby in the United States regarding Israel. Steven Rosen, a director at the Middle East Forum, said EU leaders were pushing Washington away from Israel and toward the Arab world. "European leaders are the most effective external force urging the U.S. government to move away from Israel and closer to the Arabs," the report, titled "The Arab Lobby: The European Component," said. Rosen, a former senior lobbyist with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, said Arab countries have used Europe to pressure Washington to weaken the U.S. relationship with Israel. He said successive U.S. administrations have regarded Europe as vital for the world economy, NATO as well as American dominance in the Middle East. "Europe is not hostile to Israel on every issue, and not every European intervention with U.S. officials is meant to move U.S. policy in the Arab direction," the report, published in the Middle East Quarterly," said. "But, on the whole, the Arab road to Washington runs through Paris, London, and Berlin." World Tribune, November 8, 2010 EVENT COMMENT I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, BIBLE QUOTE (Revelation 17:2,5,6) At its heart Europe is anti Jew and pro Arab. This is because Europes leaders are influenced (more than most) by the Papacy. Catholicism is about creating a kingdom on this earth. It opposes the coming kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is centred on Israel. Babel / Babylon was the beginning of the kingdom of men. Israel was the beginning of the kingdom of God. Babel = confusion. Israel = God prevails (or wins!). Catholicism is the seat of spiritual Babylon now. Remember the woman of Rev 17 has Babylon written on her head. The woman sits on 7 hills – ROME! The beast the woman rides = Europe. Therefore Europe is anti Israel and is influencing nations in this way…

Hezbollah: We are ready for another war with Israel Hezbollah is ready for another war with Israel, said the group's leader Hassan Nasrallah in a televised speech on Thursday evening. Referring to what he termed Israel's habit of becoming involved where it is not welcome, he emphasized that his Lebanese terrorist group is not at all afraid of future conflicts. With progress in the UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), charged with investigating the 2005 Rafik Hariri assassination, and the Hezbollah indictments expected, Nasrallah also said that Hezbollah will "cut the hand" of anyone who tries to arrest any member of the party. "Those who imagine that we will allow the arrest or detention of any of our fighters are mistaken," he told thousands of supporters in south Beirut through video link. "We will cut the hand that reaches out for any one of them." The Netherlands-based tribunal investigating the killing is expected to issue indictments in the coming months. Jerusalem Post, November 11, 2010 EVENT COMMENT For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of mens blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. Back in Feb 2005 the Prime Minister of Lebanon was assassinated. Looking back at the Weekly World Watch slides from that time it is interesting to note that Syria was blamed for the assassination by America and Britain. They vowed that Syria would be held to account. The headline in the Daily Telegraph on October 22 2005 was Syria will pay for murder of Hariri, vow America and Britain. The investigation appears to implicate senior Hezbollah figures in his murder. Hezbollah are the terrorist pawns of Syria. The indictments are due in the next month or two. There will almost certainly be a major reaction from Hezbollah if this happens. This is why they speak of war with Israel. We know destruction is coming on Lebanon and Syria. It may be soon… BIBLE QUOTE (Habakkuk 2:17)

EU chief: Nation states are dead The age of the nation state is over and the idea that countries can stand alone is an illusion and a lie, the EU president believes. In one of the most open proclamations of the goal of a European superstate since the heyday of Jacques Delors, Herman Van Rompuy went on to denounce Eurosceptism as the greatest threat to peace. Tory backbenchers condemned the inflammatory comments in the speech made by Mr Van Rompuy to mark the 21st anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. They said it proved that David Cameron would have a battle on his hands if he is to prevent extra powers being handed to Brussels. Backbench Tories warned such views were now on the rise in Brussels. Conservative MP Douglas Carswell said: At last we see the real intentions of the Eurocrats. If thats what Mr Van Rompuy believes, he should at least get elected by someone before he says it. Daily Mail, November 11, 2010 EVENT COMMENT And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, Europe is a strange mixture. It is made up of separate nations under a common constitution which can overrule national laws. It yearns for superstate status and yet it remains divided and fractious. There is strength in common currency and laws and yet weakness with hugely varying economies and overriding national interests. Europe is a Babel project. A uniting of people of different languages and cultures. God divided people into their nations by giving them different tongues. Europe disregards this and wants to reunite all people together. It is an anti God project. The Bible explains this mixture so well. Daniel speaks of the kingdom being divided. Revelation 17 speaks of kings (rulers) giving their power and strength to the beast but dont actually have an empire. We know this beast (and woman) make war on Christ. BIBLE QUOTE (Revelation 17:12-14) The EU poster on the right says Europe: many tongues, one voice. The image is that of the famous Babel painting.

Student fees march erupts into day of violence A demonstration against tuition fees by tens of thousands of students and lecturers descended into violence today when a group of protesters smashed their way into the headquarters of the Conservative party. A number of police officers were injured after they came under attack from youths, some wearing scarves to hide their faces, amid scenes of chaos. Eight people were taken to hospital with injuries after the violence flared at Millbank Tower, next to the River Thames in central London. Hundreds of protesters stormed the building after smashing through the windows chanting "die Tory scum".. Rocks, wooden banners, eggs, rotten fruit and shards of glass were thrown at police officers trying to beat back the crowd with metal batons and riot shields. Inside the building, windows were kicked in, desks and chairs were overturned and the walls were daubed with anarchist graffiti. Protesters set off fire extinguishers, overturned filing cabinets and threw office paperwork and business cards from the smashed windows. Daily Telegraph, November 10, 2010 EVENT COMMENT BIBLE QUOTE The UK government is being forced to make drastic cuts in spending because they have borrowed so much money to bail out the banks during the credit crunch. Another way of raising money is to charge more for services etc. One area that is being put up is student tuition fees. This week saw some terrible scenes on the streets of London with gratuitous violence and destruction of property by the protesters. The ruling party in the UK is the Conservative Party and their headquarters was completely ransacked. Police looked on unable to do anything about it. Click here to watch to what happened.Click here This is just the beginning. In the days of Noah before the flood the earth was filled with violence. Christ warns us that when he returns the earth will be in the same state. (Genesis 6:11-13) The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them;
