5 Classification: Determination of the Grade level based upon the number of credits successfully completed by a student 9th – Promotion from Middle School 10th- 1 year of attendance and 6.5 credits including English I and Algebra I 11TH- 2 years of attendance and 13.5 credits 12th- 3 years of attendance and 20 credits Early Graduation is a case by case situation due to certain circumstance (please contact your counselor for more information)

7 Number of Credits: Foundation Graduation Program
You must accumulate 26 specific credits to graduate: Credits are granted for each course that you complete with a 70 or above: Course Area Number of Credits: Foundation Graduation Program Number of Credits: Foundation Graduation Program With an Endorsement (Classes of ) Number of Credits: Foundation Graduation Program With an Endorsement (Class of 2022 & Beyond) English/Language Arts 4 Mathematics 3 Science Social Studies, including Economics and Government Physical Education 1 Language other than English or Computer Programming Language 2 Fine Arts Technology Teen Leaderadersip .5 Electives ( 4 which comes from their endorsement) 5 .5 Professional Communication .5 Personal Financial Literacy .5 Any CTE Principles  Level Course TOTAL 24 credits 26 credits A student can earn a Distinguished Level of Achievement, DLA, and the requirements are: A total of four credits in mathematics, which must include Algebra II. A total of four credits in science. The curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement The remaining curriculum requirements

8 Performance Acknowledgement
A student can earn a Performance Acknowledgement, and the requirements are: Option A: DUAL CREDIT  > 12 hours of college academic courses with a grade > 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 Option B: BILITERACY All ELA requirements completed & GPA of  >80 And one of the following: > 3 credits in a LOTE & GPA of  >80; 4 credits in a             LOTE & >80; or Score > 3 on AP for a LOTE Additionally,  if ever identified ELL must meet exit criteria for ESL program & scored Adv. High level on TELPAS Option C: ADVANCED PLACEMENT > 3 on a College Board AP exam Option D: PSAT, SAT, ACT (Must meet one of the following) Qualify for a commended scholar or higher (PSAT/NMSQT) a combined critical reading and mathematics score of > 1250 on SAT Earn composite score of  > 28 on ACT (excluding the writing subscore) Option E: B&I License or Certification (Must meet one of the following) Performance on an exam or series of exams to obtain a nationally recognized business or industry certification Performance on an exam to obtain a government-required credential to practice a profession

9 GPA The District shall include in the calculation of class rank semester grades earned in high school credit courses taken in grades 9–12 only, unless excluded below. grades earned in physical education; athletics; dance; band; choir; any assigned remediation or tutoring course; any course for which a pass/fail grade is assigned; courses substituted for physical education; summer school; and through credit by examination, with or without prior instruction. In addition, the calculation of class rank shall exclude any grade earned through distance learning, unless the grade is earned in a course taken through the Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN), and any grade earned in dual credit courses taken through a college with which the District does not have a partnership agreement. Please be advised that the second semester class of a dual credit courses that is taken in a student’s senior year will be excluded from ranking.

10 EOC Requirements In order to meet Graduation Testing Requirements students must pass the following End of Course Examination: English I- Passing Score of 3775 Biology – Passing Score of 3550 Algebra- Passing Score of 3550 English II- Passing Score of 3775 Future EOC Administration Dates: December 3rd- English I December 4th- Algebra I, U.S. History December 5th- English II, Biology December 6th- Makeup

11 Attendance State law requires that a student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance a minimum of 90% of the days the class is scheduled to meet. If a student is in attendance less that 90% of the days the class meets, the student will lose credit unless each and every class is made up in an acceptable manner. Please keep in mind time made up allows for credit to be given but does not remove absence documented by the school to meet state compulsory attendance requirements.

12 Requesting Transcripts or Letter of Recommendations
To request an unofficial transcript you must fill out a form with Mrs. Medrono in the front office. Please specify if you want to pick it up or it need to be sent directly to the school. The turnaround for requesting transcripts and them being ready is 48 hours. When requesting a letter of recommendation, please give the recommender a 2 week window and also a copy of your Senior Brag Sheet.

13 What are my next steps? Research some colleges Visit some colleges
Take your college entry tests (SAT/ACT/ TSI) Community High School is now a TSI District and can administer the TSI on campus ( Please go to A101 for more details) Go on applytexas.org ( This allows you to use one site to apply to all school that are located in Texas) Apply for Scholarships ( Scholarship can be found in your Counselor’s office, College and Career Readiness Center, and online) NCAA- Clearing house ( if you play sports and want to play at the college level please speak to your coach or Ms. Wilburn) Complete your Fasfa ( Fasfa night will be held October 16, 2018)
