The RVAD inflow cannula is pointed inferiorly and posteriorly from its insertion on the left lateral right ventricular outflow tract, toward the tricuspid valve. The RVAD inflow cannula is roughly parallel to the LVAD inflow cannula on the opposite side of the interventricular septum, rather than perpendicular to the LVAD inflow cannula and septum.
