5 *Call to Worship One: In Luke 13, Jesus gives the example of a hen gathering her chick under her wings, reminding us that God longs to be like a mother to us. Many: We give thanks to God who breathes life into us and nurtures us in the water of our mothers’ wombs. All: May we experience and celebrate God’s presence in the presence of those who extend a mother’s love to us.

6 O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (verse 1)
57 WORDS: Charles Wesley, 1739 1. O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise,

7 the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!

8 O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (Verse 2)
2. My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of thy name.

9 O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (Verse 3)
3. Jesus! the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease; ’tis music in the sinner’s ears, ’tis life, and health, and peace.

10 O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (Verse 7)
7. In Christ, your head, you then shall know, shall feel your sins forgiven; anticipate your heaven below, and own that love is heaven.

11 *Opening Prayer O God, we give thanks for the Book of Acts in our Bible. We thank you for those faith filled people who have gone before us, among them: Lydia and Paul, Dorcas and Peter, Stephen and Mary the mother of Jesus. Grant that as we hear today’s testimonies our ears may be open to new truths and insights and our hearts inspired to new heights and depths of love. Amen.

12 Scripture Reading Acts 1:21-22 21 So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us—one of these must become a witness with us to his resurrection.”
