1 Follow-up actions to the June 2017 Standards Working Group meeting
Item 1.2 – Standards Working Group meeting 2-3 July 2018 Luca Gramaglia

2 Objective In the conclusions of the last Standards Working Group meeting, several requests for follow-up actions were recorded Eurostat drafted a document which outlines what follow-up actions were taken since June 2017 (document SWG/2018/1.2) This presentation only outlines those follow-up actions which will not be the subject of a specific agenda item at the 2018 Standards Working Group meeting

3 ESS-MH virtual application
Request Eurostat asked for volunteers for testing the new virtual application Response At the June 2017 meeting of the Standards Working Group, Eurostat presented the new "virtual application" functionality, which could allow Member States to use the ESS-MH for national purposes. While a few Member States expressed interest in testing this new functionality, Eurostat does not currently consider that the ESS-MH should be offered as a platform for national use until certain issues regarding interoperability are fixed. These issues will be discussed during items 2.2 and 2.3.

4 ESS-MH import / export and multilingual support
Request Member States asked Eurostat to consider more import / export functionalities and to increase multi-lingual support for the ESS-MH. Response Eurostat is working on making it possible to retrieve certain information from the ESS-MH using web services. Eurostat is also planning to make it possible to automate the transmission of metadata files by allowing Member State to submit metadata files via EDAMIS. As regards multilingual support, the ESS-MH user guide has recently been made available in French and German. Both versions are available on the "Help" page of the ESS-MH.

5 Sharing of Member State experiences
Request Member States confirmed their willingness to share documentation, tools and provide demonstrations in future WG meetings. Response In order to promote the sharing of experiences in the ESS, Eurostat has shared the final results of the 2015 grants on metadata implementation (link). An inter-active session has also been foreseen for the 2018 edition of the Standards Working Group (item 2.3 of the agenda). It will focus on the interoperability of metadata systems in the ESS.
