context- Putnam speaking of Betty's sickness  flaw- too much of a generalization from ones sickness

4 Act 1 2."There is either obedience or the church will burn like Hell is burning” (583).

5 Act 1 2. type of fallacy- Either Or Fallacy
context- Rev. Parris is speaking, Proctor has just criticized Parris for his focus on deeds and mortgages flaw- extreme choices

6 Act 1 3. "They must be; they are weighted with authority” (587).

7 Act 1 3. type of fallacy- appeal to authority
context- Rev. Hale walking into room with books flaw- the validity of the books and authors

8 ACT 2 1. “Last Monday, I think she walked away, and I thought my guts would burst for two days after” (607).

9 Act 2 1. type of fallacy- False cause
context- Mary Warren is speaking about Sarah Good flaw- a stomach problem will not result from simply being near Sarah Good

10 Act 2 2. ”Man, remember, until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven” (617).

context- Hale is saying anyone, no matter how good, could be influenced by the Devil flaw- assumption that a good person may

12 Act 2 3.“But, Mr. Proctor, they will not hang them if they confess” (608).

13 Act 2 3. type of fallacy- False premise context- Mary Warren
flaw- False confession is the only way the accused can save their lives.
