Meditation 1 Corinthians 1:3 - 8a If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love never fails.

Musical Prelude Bringing in the Light of Christ

Choral Introit Come to Me Choir

*Call to Worship One: We come remembering, that in the book of Malachi, God says: “I love you.” Many: We come to give thanks for God’s love and honor God. One: We come to learn and be made pure in Your sight. Many: Purify us O Lord, for we long to be wholly Yours and ever sing Your praise.

All Creatures of Our God and King

All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing:, alleluia, alleluia! O burning sun with golden beam, and shining moon with silver gleam, O praise him, O praise him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Earth ever fertile, day by day bring forth your blessings on our way; alleluia, alleluia! All flowers and fruits that is you grow, let the his glory also show; O praise him, O praise him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

All you who are of tender heart, forgiving others, take your part; alleluia, alleluia! All you who pain and sorrow bear, praise God and on him cast your care; O praise him, O praise him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless, And worship Him in humbleness, O praise Him! Alleluia! Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, And praise the Spirit, Three in One!

*Opening Prayer O Lord, All-Powerful, Almighty One; Lord of Heaven’s hosts, time and again we have fallen away. Day after day, we have promised to be faithful to You, our Creator. We have pledged to watch out for the poor, care for the foreigner and demonstrate our love and honor for You.

*Opening Prayer We long to belong to You and hear you say that we are your very own special treasure. As a parent shows mercy and spares his or her child who serves him, we pray that you will show mercy to us.  Amen.

Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire, and have not love, my words are vain, as sounding brass, and hopeless gain.

Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess, but not be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin.

Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control, our spirits long to be made whole. Let inward love guide every deed; by this we worship, and are freed.

Joys and Concerns Prayers of the People Silent Prayer

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

as it was in the beginning,
Gloria Patria Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. Used By Permission. CCLI License #

Scripture Reading Malachi 3:1-4, 6-12  See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight—indeed, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. 2 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears?

Scripture Reading For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap; 3 he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to the Lord in righteousness.4 Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.

Scripture Reading 6 For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, have not perished. 7 Ever since the days of your ancestors you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, “How shall we return?” Do Not Rob God

Scripture Reading 8 Will anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing me! But you say, “How are we robbing you?” In your tithes and offerings!9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me—the whole nation of you! 10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.

Scripture Reading 11 I will rebuke the locust[a] for you, so that it will not destroy the produce of your soil; and your vine in the field shall not be barren, says the Lord of hosts. 12 Then all nations will count you happy, for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.

Apostles’ Creed (Hymnal #881)

Apostles’ Creed (Hymnal #881)
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
