1 Playing Basics If you are not getting a good sound from a certain note you are playing, most likely you need to do one of the following things: Be sure your finger is located just BEFORE (on the head side) of the fret. Use your finger TIP to press on the string. Press down harder.

2 Jaws Pattern To play this, use fingers 1 and 2 on your fretting hand.
Find a fret location anywhere on the guitar and press down on a string of your choice with finger 1. PLAY THE NOTE. Keep finger 1 down, then press finger 2 down in the adjacent fret. PLAY THIS NOTE Lift up finger 2, and PLAY THE FIRST NOTE AGAIN Press finger 2 down again and PLAY THE SECOND NOTE AGAIN REPEAT…

ALL notes played on String 2! Play each note on the beat. Use fingers 1 and 3 (same finger as fret) Frets: Written in Music Notation: FRET:
