Ps 107:1 ~ Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
Nah 1:7 ~ The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.
Ps 31:19 ~ Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You In the presence of the sons of men!

3. GOOD ACTIVITY DISPOSITION
agathos, agathosune – being “good” in character, beneficial in its effect, Mt. 19:17
God is essentially, absolutely, consummately “good.”
Rom. 15:14 – “my brethren, that you also are full of goodness”
chrestos, chrestotes – of things, that which is pleasant, kindly, gracious, upright, righteous

DISPOSITION

4. GOD ALONE IS GOOD There is no one who is as God is, wholly good!
1 Jn. 1:5 – “…God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”
God’s goodness extends from His character to include all His thoughts, words and actions.
All that God does is good, and the affect it has upon us is good.

5. GOD’S GOODNESS / PSALM 107 (mercy, chastening, reproofs, judgments)
“Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!”
8-Delivering Israel from Egypt
15-Retribution against Israel’s rebellion, resulting in captivity to save a remnant
21-Healing power of His word
31-Delivering from testing and trial
32-In anticipation of His providence for the helpless and overthrowing the oppressor.

6. GOD IS GOOD Conviction determines behavior
Ps 10:4 ~ The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.

Ezek 9:9 ~ Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, 'The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see!'

What we believe about God shapes our responses to Him and His Word!
Convicted of His existence – we will seek Him! Heb. 11:6
Assured of His love – we will draw near to Him! John 12:32
Deny Him, diminish His character – we will follow our own desires! 2 Tim. 4:3
