Most SAP Enterprise Management implementations exist on the far right – perpetual licenses, run in a datacenter owned by the business or hosted in AWS, Azure, Google – it can be customized, modified and the system – database, OS, application – upgrade roadmap is determined by the business and managed by the business – in house or with a partner
HEC – similar to on prem but they provide the basis services and infrastructure in a subscription package – still have your own perpetual licenses

Far left is what we are diving into further today – we use the application functionality and get charged a single subscription fee/user/month for that privilege.
The system is upgraded each quarter delivering the latest functional innovations.
Then there is the single tenant edition, S/4HANA Cloud came out in 2015, the single tenant edition just came out at the start of this year.
The single tenant edition supports all industries and this offering allows you to have the full breadth of extensions including use of BAPIs, IDOCs, user exits in the customer namespace.

This shows the approach taken to build out the functionality available in S/4HANA Cloud
Core functions of All-In-One solution achieved in 1705 release
On top of the core functions SAP have added new functionality through what they call scope items
Some are additional features that require additions to the subscription fee, some are features available with the original subscription and are either immediately available or require activation
Continually added new IMG activities to the SSCUI adding more user flexibility to the way in which the solution can support the business processes
API – called whitelisted APIs – Application Programming Interfaces – the only way to interface to and from external systems
Machine Learning – ML – starting to stack these features into the solution to support and automate some repetitive activities – building RFQs, looking at requisitions that don’t have an associated contract, matching GR/IR variances
IMPORTANT – quarterly upgrade cycle means keeping up to date with proposed product enhancements through the product roadmap

SAP S/4HANA Cloud is delivered with end-to-end core business processes for independent subsidiaries and also provides the ability to set up end-to-end business processes between headquarters and subsidiaries with tailored SAP-delivered tools.
The headquarters runs on SAP S/4HANA On-Premise or SAP ERP, while the subsidiary runs on SAP S/4HANA Cloud; this offers a best-in-class Two-Tier ERP landscape which provides:
A consistent data model and taxonomy between the headquarters and subsidiary
A consistent user experience across headquarters and subsidiary
Native integration that supports end-to-end business processes between the headquarters and subsidiary

17. What subscription types are available for S/4HANA Cloud?
Advanced Use Authorized to use all capabilities of the solution without constraints. (e.g. View and create reports, transactional apps, mass load apps, sscui)
Core Use Authorized to use most capabilities of the solution, except, select advanced applications or cross- LoB capabilities, Finance, Maintenance, Operations, and IT management functions that are reserved for advanced use only.
