True North for 2019 King David’s thoughts about “True North” Psalm 119:97-102 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me.

True North for 2019 King David’s thoughts about “True North” Psalm 119:105; ; Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

True North for 2019 What does David believe about his “True North?” It gives him insight about life which brings wisdom. It keeps him on a right path for life. It is his life’s heritage. It pleases the God who loves him and whom he loves. It works!

8 True North for 2019 It is the most direct way we know God, His One and Only Son, and His Holy Spirit! Psalm 119:102 I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. Psalm 119:10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. Psalm 17:5-7a My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not stumbled. I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer. Show me the wonders of your great love

9 True North for 2019 David was not devoted to his “True North” – God’s Word – because he enjoyed being a student or rule keeper – only.

10 It was because it deepened his love relationship with the Triune God!
True North for 2019 It was because it deepened his love relationship with the Triune God!

11 True North for 2019 David loved God’s Word because it connected him to the Triune God in a special way!

True North for 2019 Jesus taught the same thing – John 14:15, 21 If you love me, keep my commands. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them
