Attract new member growth Inspire all members to participate more fully in DAR activities Mentor Members to strengthen their skills and knowledge of DAR

5 Strive to Increase Membership by 10% Annually
Develop a Chapter Membership Team Invite prospective members to Chapter Meetings Keep current on Prospective Member Database on NSDAR website Follow up Prospects three (3) times Do all members know the DAR Elevator Speech? Change Meeting Times and Days to accommodate working women

6 DAR Elevator Speech The DAR is a volunteer service organization based on lineage to someone who fought or gave aid to the American Revolution. We preserve historic buildings and artifacts; provide contests, awards and scholarships; support schools and develop good citizens while celebrating the exceptional events in our American History.

7 Provide One on One Computer Help
Pair members with a computer buddy who will teach them how to use the NSDAR website, E-Membership and the MSSDAR website

8 Conduct Genealogy Workshops
Invite a Genealogist to conduct a Genealogy 101 workshop Have your Registrar Provide a session on Filling out DAR Apps at The workshop

9 Have a DAR 101 Program Have a DAR refresher course
Go back to the basics of DAR and refresh your memory and learn new things Provide Mentors for New Members

10 Conduct Service Activities
Such As: Volunteering at a VA facility Volunteering at a Nursing Home Volunteering at Red Cross Involve your Chapter in a Service Project for your Community

11 Arrange Field Trips Take a tour of a Historic Attraction
Have fun, make it a day Pack a Picnic Lunch Or organize an informal luncheon

12 Teamwork Arrange a joint meeting with a nearby Chapter once or twice a
year Get to know your neighbors

13 Have a Telephone Committee
Call those members who do not use to remind them of meetings Call those members who are sick or suffering Offer to pick them up for the meeting, form a carpool

14 Teas are always fun And a DAR Tradition!! Almost every month
there is a holiday Celebrate and invite your prospects

15 Participate In: Continental Congress MSSDAR State Conference MSSDAR District Meetings Rosalie Day Spring and Fall Pilgrimage

16 Publicity Make it a point to submit Press Releases to provide
coverage about Chapter Meetings and Activities This is a great membership recruitment tool. Have a Publicity Chairman who is willing to take pictures and submit articles

17 Provide Library Displays
President’s Day Constitution Week Veteran’s Day Flag Day Women’s History Month 4th of July Labor Day Native American Month Thanksgiving Christmas

18 Sing Happy Birthday Sing Happy Birthday at Chapter Meetings to those members who have birthdays that month

19 Spotlight Members Individually Spotlight your members
Have a “Membership Minute”. Let the members discuss their biography and include their personal, professional and volunteer interests

20 Have a “Patriot Minute”
Let the members discuss their heritage about their Revolutionary Patriot with the group

21 Membership Anniversaries
Honor Members on their Membership Anniversaries—10, 20, 30, 40, 50 Present them with a Certificate It’s time to Celebrate time devoted to DAR

22 Smile! Spread the warmth of Friendship
Introduce yourself to guests, new members, and anyone you do not know Prepare nametags for guests, members and prospective members Invite New Members to share how they found your Chapter

23 Do you have a Facebook page or Website?
Engage your Computer Savvy Juniors in this project Perhaps one of your Juniors would like to manage the site
