Academy Award Speeches
You’ve been nominated for an Academy Award for your starring role in a recent movie. You’re not a great speaker or writer, so you hire someone to compose a speech for you, just in case.
The professional speech writer wants to meet with you to learn about your thinking, writing and speaking style, before composing an acceptance speech.
You get together for lunch at Spago’s in LA, so that the speech writer can interview you and begin the process.
The speech writer prepares a draft for your review and you approve it, with minor changes.
On the night of the Academy Awards, they read your name as the winner for Best Actor/Actress.
You give your one-minute speech to rave reviews in the trades and you are on your way to being a mega-star!
Directions: You will pair up with another member of the class and will write one-minute (250 words) acceptance speeches for each other: to be turned in (typed--16 pt. type, double spaced) for a writing grade; you will also present it in the MPR using the mic.
You will use school appropriate language and subject matter, or the project will not be accepted and you will receive a “0”.

Directions: You will pair up with your assigned teammate and will write one-minute (250 words) acceptance speeches for each other: to be turned in (typed--16 pt. type, double spaced) for a writing grade; you will also present it in the MPR using the mic.

Team Frenzy: Roy-Michael Keaton; Shivani-Julianne Moore
