1 The Life of Glory John 20:30-31

2 John Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

3 The Creator-King of the universe and the giver of life has come to us.
The Creator-King proves who he is by 7+1 signs. This Creator-King is the King of Glory. He rewards with an eternal life of glory

4 What is “Glory”? Kavod is actual glory of God.
Shekinah is the manifestation of God’s glory in another form.

5 John 1 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us
John 1 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory (shekinah), the glory of the one and only Son

6 What does it mean to Seek a Reward?
John 17 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began

7 Seeking Reward is the right thing, it is the consummation of the right thing.
Jesus seeks the reward of finishing the work God has given him which consummates in his kavod glory.

8 Our reward and glory lies in the divine approval.
Matthew 25 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ (NKJV)

9 John 20 31But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (NIV)

10 Eternal Life is the Life of Glory
John 17 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one … . 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—

11 Eternal Life is the Life of Glory
John 17 24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

12 17:1-5 Jesus prays for himself.
17:6-19 Jesus prays for his immediate disciples. 17:20-26 Jesus prays for all who will eventually come to believe

13 Eternal life in the glory of God begins at the point of faith and culminates in the presence of God’s glory.

14 The Reward often does not sound like a reward because we are not able to fully appreciate it yet.

15 Eternal Life as the Life of Glory
John I have given them the glory that you gave me … 24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory,

16 THE LIFE OF GLORY IS THE LIFE THAT IS INDWELT BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

17 The glory Jesus gives is closely connected with the giving of the Holy Spirit
Shekinah from verb Shakan – to dwell The dwelling of the Holy Spirit is the Shakan of God in us.

18 John 14 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth
John 14 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. (NLT)

19 Ephesians 1 13 … When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

20 Let the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (the shekinah glory of God) be see in you.

21 THE LIFE OF GLORY BRINGS GLORY TO GOD
We affirm the importance of bring glory to God in the Gloria Patri

22 Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

23 Insert Video. Gloria Patri

24 We affirm the importance of bringing glory to God in Shorter Catechism
The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.

25 What it means to have God as your reward?
Matthew 25 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ (NKJV)

26 John 4 34 “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work,” Jesus told them. (HCSB)

27 Ironically, the life that is surrendered to God is also the life of purpose and of joy.

28 The life that is given to obey God is the life of glory and the life of joy.

29 THE LIFE OF GLORY IS COMMUNION WITH GOD
There is no life and no glory outside of God. Only decay and death.

30 Romans 8 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

31 Romans 8 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

32 2 Timothy 4 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

33 CONCLUSION John Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
