13 Answers: Photo Analysis Round 3
e.g. tephra cloud, ash column, ash fall, lightning, toxic air, ash cloud blocking out daylight, lava flows, etc. A gorge is formed when a waterfall retreats, each time it collapses and retreats it leave an open gorge area. An arch is formed due to coastal erosion processes that weaken the rocks at the base of a cliff and cause them to collapse, with erosion such as hydraulic action forming a notch and then a cave which breaks through the cliff to leave an arch. A stump. Volcano tourism, e.g. jeep trips up the mountain to view eruptions, or tourists visiting once the eruption has finished because the area is famous, etc. From the photo you could suggest e.g. fishing, tourism by boat, mountain tours, skiing, holiday homes, service jobs such as boat engineers / recreational jobs, etc. Tropical rainforest. E.g. for recreation / tourism, logging for timber, farming, etc. e.g. the area is volcanic and the lakes are crater lakes, the lakes have different colours (depending on their chemistry), the islands appear tropical because of volcanic heat, etc. Farm/accommodation. Choose to live near volcanoes for resources, minerals, fertile soil, etc. Geothermal energy, where hot water is generated by heat from volcanic rocks below ground and used to create steam to generate electricity or hot water for heating.
