Fig. 1 Confirmation of recipient-derived liver parenchymal cell regeneration. Liver biopsy obtained on post-operative day 112 showed that all hepatocytes and most cholangiocytes expressed both GFP+ and FAH+, suggesting that liver parenchymal regeneration was carried out by resident cells only (since hepatocytes and other cells not expressing GFP- FAH- from the transplanted mouse liver were replaced).
