3 The breakdown Section 1 – Configure Printer Properties
Section 2 – Manage Printer Logic Section 3 - Troubleshooting

4 Configure Printer Properties
Step 1 - Connect to Working Network Drop Step 2 - Verify DHCP Print Network/Configuration Page “(IP) Configured By” should be set to DHCP If not, use the control panel to navigate to Network Settings and set it to DHCP Step 3 - Obtain the IP Address Should be near the DHCP setting or on the printer’s LCD screen Must be a valid 10.X.X.X. [ & X.X are invalid] Step 4 - Connect to Printer with IP Address Use Chrome or Internet Explorer Step 5 - Configure the Printer Edit the host name Turn off IPv6

Certification Errors Chrome Internet Explorer

7 Configure printer properties
Copiers Xerox Host Name Scan-to- File Repository Ricoh HP 680 Host Name Scan-to- Copy Code

8 Manage Printer Logic Add and Delete Printers
Make sure to use the host name in the “IP Address or Hostname” field. Host name and hostname are interchangeable. You will see it as one word or as two in varying places.

9 Manage Printer Logic Folder Structure
Good organization can help your customers.

10 Manage Printer Logic Maps Make sure maps are usable.

11 Manage Printer Logic Reports Records and Printers with Errors.

12 Manage Printer Logic Printer Tabs and Settings
Useful tabs: General, Port, Drivers/Profiles, Status, Queue (-ish)

13 Manage Printer Logic Drivers and Profiles
Difference between a driver and a profile. When to save and use a profile. These set for all users installing the printer.

14 Manage Printer Logic IP Ranges
Based on CFISD subnets that are already set up for you. Do not delete these: IP Range is only used for what printers are seen when installing the printers. They do nothing beyond that.

15 Manage printer logic Deploy Don’t set this up on your own
Send the printer bartag and list of computer bartags that the printer should be deployed to in a ticket to Doug Baker. Printers can easily be deployed outside the scope of a single campus…this is not a good thing!

16 Troubleshooting Knowledge Base Article The Book!

17 Troubleshooting Status Tab
Check host name on printer. Check host name set in Printer Logic. Check SNMP status on printer. Check NSLOOKUP.

18 Troubleshooting Typos pr123456.cfsid.net pr123456@cfisd.net

19 Troubleshooting Driver Issues
Status Tab says “Success,” but it’s not printing. It’s only printing a portion of the document. The text is fine, but the pictures are missing color or missing completely. “I should have the ability to [blank] in my printing options, but I don’t.”

20 Troubleshooting NSLOOKUP

21 troubleshooting Not a troubleshooting step…
Remove and add a printer back to Printer Logic. This may lead to a “name already exists” error. A problem may lie in the settings of the printer itself or in the printer’s Printer Logic settings—fix those.

22 troubleshooting Q&A What issues have you seen that we have not discussed?
