Our False Alarm By-law was developed in 2002 The False Alarm Reduction Program was developed in 2002 in full consultation with the various local alarm companies. Full implementation of the program started January 2003

3 Alarm Program An Overview
A mass mail out to all alarm holders was done in September 2002 to inform alarm users of the program The alarm companies assisted in the mail out to their clients. The cost of the mail out was absorbed by the Police Service

4 Alarm Program – An Overview
The Police Service purchased software to run the False Alarm Reduction Program in 2002 The software used is called Crywolf Crywolf does everything. Billing, tracking, payments and letters. It also processes alarm calls

5 Current Response to Alarms
2 officers dispatched to all alarms Average time spent on a false alarm is 24 minutes for a total of 48 minutes per call At one point alarm calls accounted for 12 percent of our calls for service.

7 False Alarm Reduction Fee Schedule
Registration Fees: the fee covers a 3 year period $30.00 for all residential and commercial under 3000 sq.ft. $50.00 for all commercial over 3000 sq.ft. $ for any school board, which covers all schools.

8 False Alarm Reduction Fee Schedule cont’
All registered systems receive one free false alarm for each year of registration. Every alarm after the free one, within that year of registration, is $60.00 Every false alarm for a non-registered system is $100.00

10 Conclusion Our objective as a police service is to continue to work with the Alarm industry to reduce false alarm calls.
