3 Bringing in the Light of Christ
Musical Prelude Bringing in the Light of Christ

4 Scripture Reading John 19:16b-18 So they took Jesus; 17 and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha. 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them.

5 Scripture Reading John 19:28-30 28 After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

6 Scripture Reading John 19:41-42 41 Now there was a garden in the place where he was crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. 42 And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation, and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

7 Introit Celtic Alleluia (TFWS #2043) Choir

8 *Call to Worship One: We stand between life and death, alleluias and exhaustion. We weep with, and for, those who are suffering. We struggle with God’s call to us to love all people with compassion. We celebrate God’s triumph over death. Many: Alleluia! We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Death has been defeated and is not the end of life for those who believe. New Life has come because Christ the Lord is Risen.

33 Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

34 but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

35 Scripture Reading John 20:11-18 11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12 and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”

36 14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

37   18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

41 Awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

42 Crown Him with Many Crowns (Verse 2)
2. Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o’er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save.

44 Crown Him with Many Crowns (Verse 3)
3. Crown him the Lord of peace, whose power a scepter sways from pole to pole, that wars may cease, and all be prayer and praise.

45 His reign shall know no end, and round his pierced feet fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet.
