Click for next sequence Damages: Gaza War (UNDP) estimates that over 14,000 homes 68 government buildings and 31 non-governmental organizations were totally or partially damaged during the three weeks of fighting in Gaza. As a result, UNDP estimates that 600,000 tons of concrete rubble will need to be removed. Most of the damage has been reported in rural areas which have higher non-refugee populations, meaning the non-refugee population has been disproportionately affected by the damage to housing. This data is preliminary and further full assessments are underway UN installations hit: - 53 UN buildings hit 3 UN shelters directly hit, (killing 3+2) - 3 UN shelters directly hit, (killing 3+2) Health facilities hit: - 58 of 122 health facilities damaged or destroyed (48% of all health facilities incl. 15 hospitals and 43 primary health clinics (PHC) - 29 ambulances damaged Agriculture A joint UN-NGO damage assessment of the agriculture sector estimates that 70% of agricultural industry has been damaged; the total direct losses at over $180 million, including direct losses to plant production, animal production and agricultural infrastructure; Damage to educational facilities A UNDP rapid damage assessment of 170 out of the 407 government and private schools in the Gaza Strip found that ten schools (eight government and two private) were severely damaged, and that 160 government and ten private schools were partially damaged, during the Israeli military operation. Eight kindergartens were severely damaged and 60 were partially damaged Water and sanitation damages: 5,700 roof-top tanks were completely destroyed and 2,900 damaged. A couple of areas had 50 percent of their water network destroyed, while other areas sustained damage to percent of their water network. Israeli damages 1,180 sites in southern Israel were hit by rocket and mortar fire affecting about 1 million citizens; the sites directly hit include mainly residential areas, housing units , cars, roads and other property such as workshops and agricultural industries.
