2 PPA Summary The Public Policy Analyst (PPA) is designed to help students to maximize their participation in government as responsible citizens. As a public policy analyst, you and your class will develop the following policy skills, learning how to: Identify the nature of a social problem Gather evidence to support the existence of the problem Determine the causes and factors contributing to the problem Evaluate the existing policy Develop public policy alternatives Determine the best public policy solution to the problem

3 This power point will focus on steps one and two of the PPA
Students will analyze how inclusion classes help students with disabilities (SWD) to socialize

4 Defining the problem Define the problem: (see the next slide)
Step #1: The problem that was identified is that students with disabilities often lack socialization skills that affect socialization and participation in the classroom.

6 Gathering the evidence
Students will use the following articles to gather evidence to assess the problem. Articles:

Students will use the information gathered from the articles to complete worksheet #2. Students will work in small groups.

8 Shared Findings After each group completes their worksheet, they will share their responses as to the advantages of socialization in an inclusion class.
