23 What is an Honors Class? Honors Courses
Open to all students meeting the course prerequisites. Alter the curriculum in terms of depth, rigor, and pace. Promote higher level thinking skills and provide opportunity for a variety of extended projects. Solid background and a mature work ethic are highly recommended. 34 Special Situations Students receiving special education services and their parents should work closely with their middle school case manager in planning their high school coursework. Students in EL classes will work closely with their middle school teachers and counselors to choose the right classes.

35 World Languages Examples of local college world language requirements – University of St. Thomas – four years Carleton College – three years University of Minnesota – all locations – two years Gustavus Adolphus College – two years Rochester Community and Technical College – no requirement of a world language World language is not a required class in high school. Many four year colleges require two years of the same world language. Selective four year colleges may require three or more years of the same language.
