This story is set in Dublin, Ireland, in the 1920s, during a time of bitter civil war. On one side were the Irish Republicans (IRA); they wanted all of Ireland to become a republic, totally free from British rule.
On the other side were the Free Staters; they had compromised with Britain and had agreed to allow the English to continue to rule six counties in the northern province of Ulster.

Liam O’Flaherty ( ) was born to a large, poor family on Inishmore, one of Ireland’s rocky Aran Islands.
As a young man in his 20s, he witnessed and participated in the Irish Civil War.
O’Flaherty took inspiration from his experiences, writing frequently about the political conflicts in Ireland.

23. OMG! What happened!?!
In this story there are two snipers. One is on one roof while the other is across the street on another. They are trying to get each other with no success. One sniper gets shot in the air by the other. He is wounded and can’t pick up his sniper. A tank drives up and an old lady walks up to tell the guy manning the tank’s guns the location of the wounded sniper. The wounded sniper shoots the old lady. Then he comes up with a crafty idea to fool the other sniper. He sets his hat on the barrel of his gun and stands it up. The sniper shoots it and thinks he is victorious. The wounded sniper pulls out his revolver and takes down the overzealous sniper. He wants to see his kill because he was evenly matched. When he turns over the body he sees his brother’s lifeless face.
