Happy Father’s Day! It is of the essence of Christian prayer that God should be addressed as a Father to whose love we appeal, not as a God whose anger we appease. (The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges) June 17, 2018

Exodus 4:22 Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the LORD, Israel is My firstborn son,

Deuteronomy 32:6 Do you thus repay the LORD, you foolish and senseless people? Is not He your Father, Who created you, Who made you and established you?

Psalm 32:6 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear Him.

Proverbs 3:11-12 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline or be weary of His reproof, for the LORD reproves him whom He loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.

Matthew 6:9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.

Romans 8:14-17 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.

Ephesians 5:22-33 God’s plan includes order, love and respect “The correction to abuse is proper use not disuse.”

Proverbs 14:1 The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.

Ephesians 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Colossians 3:18-21 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

As Godly Men Pressure of being the spiritual leader in our home
Pressure to figure out how to love your wife like Christ loved the Church Pressure to discipline your children in such a way as to bring them up in the Lord but not make them angry or disillusioned

As Godly Men Pressure to leave the job issues at work and be engaged at home Pressure to keep the house in working order Pressure to have a ministry of some sort Pressure to be morally pure in an immoral world

Don’t Quit Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 2 Thessalonians 3:13 As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.

Don’t Quit His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ – Matthew 25:21

For Our Consideration Have you given thanks to God for the men in your life? As men, we are well aware of how far short we fall, but we all need encouragement – will you give some today? How do we handle failures in our life? What should we do when we see them?

Prayer Focus Thank You Father for choosing us as Your children
Thank You for the men in this church and may you encourage and strengthen them this day Thank You for salvation and for Communion to celebrate
