2 Criteria for Public Selection No Power in the community No water in the community Maint enance culture of the villagers Behavioral way of excreting. They are used to squatting Health related issues related to public toilet usage Empowerment through this project. Having discussed with the inventor, he has committed to training 20 people on how to construct the toilet and issue international Certificates of Participation. Lessons learnt from LFTZ toilets built in all the communities schools Decision Making Matrix From our onsite brainstorming session as to concluding on the most appropriate Public Toilet System for our Host Communities, Microflush- Bioflush Toilet was chosen after scoring the highest points, scaling through all the requirements, using the Decision Making Matrix. The selection criteria was based on the peculiarity of our host communities and various toilet types were also analyzed. Microflush Biofil Toilets was deemed to be fit for the purpose by the brainstorming group. 3 Good sanitation practice Biofil Digester is completely aerobic. It requires minimum maintenance and needs no mechanical or electrical aeration of solid mass to achieve decomposition. Environmental friendliness Because the digester and effluent pipes are always installed above the ground water table, water contamination is completely eliminated. Health impact mitigation The hazards of unsafe sanitation include diseases like cholera, dysentery, scabies and intestinal worms, and environmental pollution. Biofil toilets are well ventilated, well illuminated and meet the specific needs of user groups. Misuse of toilets and open defecation is often avoided. Tiled interiors makes cleaning toilet easy. The digester provides a complete barrier to insect vectors that spread diseases. Ecological Impact mitigation The system eliminates ground/surface water and air contamination. It has a potential of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the avoidance methane emissions directly into the atmosphere. Reuse potential The design and installation of the biofil digester gives you the added advantage of reuse of effluent for various purposes such as horticulture (e.g. wall gardens), aquaculture etc. The decomposed material from the activities of the micro and macro organisms can also be used as compost Benefits of MicroFlush Biofil Toilets

4 User- Friendly Health & Environmentally Friendly No need for Power Low Water Usage About MicroFlush Biofil Toilet OUR PROPOSED MICROFLUSH SQUATTING TOILET It’s a new innovation to solve the various issues associated with Public Toilets in Africa. The African Version was first used in Ghana rural communities and the feedback have been positive. Microflush Biofil Toilet is an improvised toilet seat with a plastic flat flap constructed manually within the local toilet bowl using very little water system to flush excretes attached to a biodigester tank which separates the human waste from liquid urine and breaks down the grey water into harmless and odorless manure that can be removed manually after 5 years.

5 MicroFlush-Biofil Toilet Flat Flap innovation for Squat Seat Water used in hand wash is connected to the toilet base and remains on the flat mould for the next person Flat Flap innovation for WC seat Squat Bowl Water used in hand wash is connected to the toilet base and remains on the flat mould for the next person Wash Basin The MicroFlush Toilets are then connected to the Biofil Digester Tanks Technology invented in Ghana. This can be used in areas with High Water and does not contaminate the ground water unlike the commonly used Septic / Soakaway system in Nigeria

6 Proposed Public Toilet 3D Design Scope of Work. 3 Toilet Buildings each with 2 male seaters and 2 female seaters. It has an estimated budget of 5.2 million Naira per building. Total estimate is N15.5million for the 3 Buildings. Training of 20 locals to be GASP Certified builders. Duration is 7days. Duration for the 3 Buildings is 27days. Supervision of GASP expert from Ghana to supervise the construction of the substructure. LPLE/LFTZ to provide accommodation. Traveling, logistics and feeding to GASP Expert. Feeding of 20 local trainee for 7 days during the training. N1,000 per person per day. 1 year maintenance period by LPLE before handing over to the community. This period is to create a sense of maintenance culture and standard by attaching incentives. Procurement for the substructure materials will be approved by LPLE/GASP expert on materials and fittings for microflush-biofil toilets.
