KEEP THE KITCHEN CLEAN – Please have respect for others and clean: ****Throw away used coffee grounds once used ***Pick up trash in the Noisy/Quiet Lounges **Clean up spills completely *Throw away (your) old lunches in the fridge Report theft or questionable activities in the building to any of the Honors staff Maintain quiet in the Quiet Lounge; conversations and visits should occur in the Noisy Lounge.

7 Computer Lab Tips (skip T-F)
Here are some ground rules to ensure all Honors students get the most out of the lab: Sign in at the Admin Desk in the lab before using anything. Food and beverages are not permitted in the lab. If you have these items, they must be sealed and placed off the tables. If you have a problem, let Jason or another worker know! Do NOT send duplicate print jobs without resolving an issue. Remember to sign out! Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and click “Sign Out.” Please do not shut down any machines.

11 Seminar (skip T-F) Attend all seminars for the semester.
You are excused 2 (two) absences Absences are for illnesses, appointments, emergencies Allowed to attend multiple times in a week during presentation dates…Except: the first 2 weeks of seminar last week of seminar Once signed in, do not leave from room. If you need to use the restroom, leave Cajun card with GA to show you will return. Be respectful of speakers. No cell phones, laptops, or homework out

12 Seminar (cont.) Card scanner: acts as your attendance for semester.
Each time you attend seminar, you will receive an notifying you with your total attendances, and the date and time of your most recent attendance. Make sure to empty your trash can in your Zimbra each week to avoid being “Over quota.” Graduate Assistants will not have access to your attendance totals during seminar. for information about your attendance if needed.

13 Honors Changes: (skip T-F)
Volunteering to present an Honors seminar topic gets you 1 Service Hour. Honors Service Hours: Honors students will now need 4 hours per academic year. This can be done all in one semester. This can be done 2 hrs/semester. It is your choice how you complete your hours. Community service: Students may bring in a signed Community Service form printed from the Honors homepage for service (coming soon). Expected accepted sites for service other than Honors will be: Miles Perret Cancer Services St. Joseph’s Diner Campus Cupboard Habitat for Humanity Americorps

14 Honors Changes (cont.) No more videos of presentations or posts on Honors Youtube. Students in class may choose to video with their own equipment. Seminar is optional for Seniors (students with 90+ Credit Hours.) If accidentally registered or not dropped before drop date, seniors must attend and submit the essay otherwise will receive NC. Seminar Essays will be turned in electronically on Moodle.

20 Honors Ambassadors CALLING FOR HONORS AMBASSADORS!! Duties:
Visit high schools to promote the Honors Program to future university students. Represent Honors Program at Preview Days and on-campus events for promotion. 22 Requirements (skip T-F)
You must schedule an Honors course and/or contract a class every semester until 18 hours is reached. Come visit the office if you need assistance with Honors contracts.

23 Contract Request Form Tips: (skip T-F)
Think about what you wish to do for a contract before discussion with your professor - Do not put the onus (responsibility) on them to create the assignment for the contract. It is your responsibility to turn in the signed Request Form with explanation of assignment to the second floor office at the Honors Building. Remember that you CANNOT contract a class that already has an Honors class associated with it. Exception: the Honors course has not been offered recently. Turn in a copy of the syllabus with your request form

24 Exceptions for Contracts
CMCN 100 – may contract this course although there is an Honors equivalent BIOL 230 – may contract this course although there is an Honors equivalent ENGL 365 – MAY NOT contract course this semester as there is a 366 Honors version offered

25 Presentation Proposals (skip T-F)
Think of what you would like to present Voting for presentations is next week Try to use the theme “WHAT IS HUMANITY?” if applicable Taurus Colloquium – What is It? Remember: You will receive 1 service hour if you give a presentation.

26 Presentation Proposals
Tuesday – Friday sections will propose topics for semester today Please raise your hands high during voting. Only vote for the amount of seminar days during semester for each section. Afterward, student if your seminar topic was chosen please complete the information sheets located with the faculty advisor or grad assistant.

27 Announce clubs, organizations, events, etc.
