How an HRA actually works
Your HRA money is used to help you pay for a portion of your deductible when you have medical expenses. Doctor Visit: Visit an in-network provider or medical center and present your ID card. The doctor’s office will submit a claim to the insurance company for the cost of your visit. 1 2 If the visit was for preventive care, the insurance company will pay the claim 100%. HRA Pays First: If the visit was not for preventive care, the insurance company will pay the claim from the HRA as long as money is available. This expense will go towards the plan deductible. BorgWarner = Provider paid directly by Cigna Teamsters’ = Employee pays Provider using HealthNow Debit Card (form/receipts must be submitted after use) You Pay After HRA: Not enough HRA dollars to cover the entire cost of the claim? The insurance company will notify both you and the doctor of the remaining amount you owe. 3 Annual Maximum: Once you have paid the plan out-of-pocket maximum (not including HRA), the plan pays 100% for the rest of the year. 4

HRA Balance/Rollover FAQ
What happens if I have unspent HRA dollars at the end of the year? Unspent HRA dollars will “rollover” to the next year as long as you remain enrolled in the same health plan. You will still receive the full annual HRA amount on Jan 1. There is no maximum/limit on the amount of rollover you may keep. Will my remaining HRA balance still be available if I change to a different health plan during open enrollment or due to a qualifying event? No, you will forfeit any unspent HRA dollars when you change health plans. If I leave BorgWarner, can I take the HRA funds with me? No, you will forfeit any unspent HRA dollars when you leave BorgWarner. Exception for employees eligible for Pre-Medicare Retirement Benefits: If you are enrolled in the Cigna HRA when you retire, any unspent HRA funds will still be available as long as you elect the HRA Pre-Medicare Option. Hired prior to 10/5/98
