David brings the Ark of God to Jerusalem with this statement: “None ought to carry the Ark of God but the Levites” 4. David’s second attempt to bring Ark to Jerusalem “The correct way” is successful! 5. David danced before the Lord! – “I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight . . .”

Nathan tells King David: “Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.” 3. Then the WORD OF THE LORD came to Nathan “Go and tell David, My servant: ‘Thou shalt not build Me an house to dwell in . . .’”

Stage 2 “Kingdom Success” 2 Samuel 1–10 1 Chronicles 10–19 DAVIDIC COVENANT Covenant in Hebrew is “Beriyth”: “to cut until bleeding occurs” Often meat would be cut during the process of covenant-making. The pieces would be passed between those making covenant. They would declare: “Without blood, no covenant “to fetter” – league, confederacy Psalm 89:3 – “I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.” Psalm 89:34 – “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.”

Stage 2 “Kingdom Success” 2 Samuel 1–10 1 Chronicles 10–19 DAVIDIC COVENANT (continued) Psalm 89:34 – “My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.” Isaiah 55:3 – “Incline your ear, and come unto Me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.” “Mercy” (as used in these verses) is “Chesed”: “Covenant Love” – a love that is fully based on covenant made with that person (rather than feelings or circumstances).
