2 Marie Tussaud Madame Tussaud was born in Strasbourg in 1761 and christened Marie Grosholtz. Marie was asked to prepare the death masks of her former employers after they had been executed -Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI. She died in April 1850 at the age of 89.

3 Madame Tussauds exhibition In 1835 the exhibition found a permanent home. It was in London… In 1884 the exhibition was moved to its present site in Marylebone Road. During the night of 8 th September 1940, Madame Tussauds was struck by a heavy bomb which inflicted significant damage.

9 Chamber of Horror The roots of the Chamber of Horrors date back to Paris in 1783. Exhibition which included portraits of noteworthy figures of the day, relics from French Revolution and a selection of figures from the Caverne.

10 The Spirit of London It is a new milestone for Madame Tussauds, covering a period of more than 400 years, the experience spans Londons history from Elizabethan times to the present day.

11 Russian in the museum This wax figures of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin and Mikhail Gorbachev are situated in Grand Hall of Madame Tussauds.

12 Studio secrets Madame Tussaud Press photographs, portraits. Hands moulded from life. 6 month to complete a figure. The body is build up in clay to an armature. Fix the eyes-heated eye-ball shaped brass tool, eyelashes are inserted. Hair, matched for colour and texture, is trimmed, dressed. Last process is colouring.

13 Madame Tussauds Today, over 2 million people from all over the world visit the exhibition each year, making it one of Britains most popular attractions. It is still the most popular and talked about wax exhibition in the world.
