3 STILL NOT FUN… 1 in 3 visitors of pornographic websites are women
The average age of a child’s first exposure to porn is 11 90% of children ages 8-16 have viewed porn online There are 116,000 searches for child porn everyday 1 in 7 youths report being solicited for sex on the internet

4 PORNOGROPGHY: The term “pornography” can be used in discussion and debate to refer broadly to material that is sexually explicit, or more specifically to sexually explicit material designed primarily to produce sexual arousal in viewers, or to sexually explicit material that subordinates women or is harmful to women and children, or with some other definition in mind.

5 Words or images intended to cause sexual arousal
Erotica: artistic portrayal of nudity, not necessarily sexual activity Soft-core porn: shows or describes nudity and suggests sexual activity Hard-core porn: contains explicit descriptions or images of sexual acts.

6 Under Canadian criminal law, the term “pornography” occurs only in section of the Criminal Code, which provides a definition of “child pornography.” Pornographic material featuring consenting adults is regulated through the “obscenity” provision of the Criminal Code (section 163). In other words, unlike child pornography, pornographic material involving consenting adults is legal in Canada if it is not deemed to be obscene. As a consequence, child pornography tends to be much more clandestine and difficult to detect than adult pornography, which is readily accessible in retail stores through the sale and exchange of DVDs, videos, films, books and magazines, as well as in theatres, on television and over the Internet. Obscene : offensive or disgusting by accepted standards of morality

7 Child Pornography visual representations of explicit sexual activity involving anyone under the age of 18 or depicted as being so; other visual representations of a sexual nature of persons under the age of 18; and written material or visual depictions that advocate or counsel illegal sexual activity involving persons under that age.

8 Lust of flesh/eyes Porn causes us to lust after flesh through the eyes which doesn’t qualify as what we are to think about Proverbs 6:25-28 “25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes, 26 for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life. 27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? 28 Can a man walk ... Matt 5: 28 “28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

9 The churches view Sex is reserved for the heterosexual married couple and to be used in accordance with God’s will Porn supports sexual adventure outside marriage primarily for pleasure. It is not morally justifiable to project men, women and children on the basis of consumption and production of porn.

10 GALATIANS 5:17-21 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law… Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.

11 ART VS PRONOGRAPHY Art portrays the nakedness of both men and women as beauty and being beautiful It is beautiful because being naked or the nakedness is intended to display beauty and wonder Porn is intended to attract or tempt a person by offering pleasure and arousing the person’s lust

12 Pornography is seen as degrading sex and creating an unhealthy extramarital sexual interest in individuals, thereby contributing to a weakening of the marital relationship. Much of this filmed, photographed, or written "prostitution" is actually anti-sexual because it gives a great deal of false information about human sexuality. Also, since much pornography depicts violence and aggression against females, it raises risks of conditioning viewers to sanction these as acceptable behavior. The best evidence suggests that all sexual deviations are learned, and pornography appears to be a major facilitator in the acquisition of these deviations.

13 PORN AND VIOLENCE Exposure to pornography causes sexual arousal, increases people’s sexual activity, and encourages men to be aggressive and more accepting of violent acts such as rape. Porn involving children encourages some men to desire sexual activity with them (pedophilia) Sexual harassment and rape against women

14 Porn is the 3rd largest revenue organized crime in the US after drugs and gambling
85% of revenue from porn magazines and videos goes into the pockets of organized crime.

15 CONSERVATIVE VIEW Believe it is legitimate for state to prohibit consenting adults from publishing and viewing porn, even in private in order to protect the moral health of society It threatens the traditional family and religious institutions as being intrinsically morally wrong as it encourages sexual promiscuity and deviant sexual practices

16 LIBERAL VIEW In favour for individual freedom
Freedom of speech and expression Privacy or ‘moral independence’ Harmless- expression or indulgence

17 Feminist View describes pornography as the domination, humiliation, and coercion of women reinforcing sexual and cultural attitudes that are mechanisms of rape and sexual harassment, and contributes to the male-centered objectification of women

18 7 Steps to confess 1) Confess your sin to God (1 John 1:9)
2) Ask God to cleanse, renew and transform your mind (Romans 12:2) 3) Ask God to fill your mind with purity 4) Learn to possess your body in holiness (1 Thess 4:3-4) 5) Understand the proper meaning of sex and rely on your spouse alone to meet the need (Corinthians 7:1-5) 6) Realize that if you walk in the spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Gala 5:16) 7) Take practical steps to reduce your exposure to graphic images
