1. BEDROOM ON A BUDGET What do you need.......

2. Flooring- you may choose from hardwood, carpet, vinyl or laminate flooring. You will not find these on the internet, but in the classroom I will have bins in the kitchens with the different types of flooring You will need to find what you want. NOTE: the price per square foot should be attached to the picture You will then need to find the area of the room to determine how much the total price will be for the flooring You do not need to change the flooring in the closet The flooring may be purchased from Lowes, Home Depot or Menards. 3. Paint Paint- as with the flooring you will find your paint color or colors in the classroom. You will find the color or colors you want, show them to me and I will tell you how many gallons of paint you will need. The cost of the paint is $21.99 per gallon and you will purchase it from Lowes

4. Lighting General lighting – You must replace the ceiling light that is currently in the room. You may replace it with a ceiling fan with a light attachment, chandelier, or track lighting Task lighting – If you want you may put some task lighting in the room. Examples of this type of lighting are desk lamps, lamps on dressers or nightstand, floor lamps next to a chair for reading Mood lighting – This type of lighting is also a want. Examples of mood lighting are black lights, lava lamps, disco balls, Christmas or rope lights around the room

5. Window treatments Shades and blinds- examples are pull down shade, bamboo shades, mini blinds, and roman shades. When you purchase shades or blinds the need to be at least the width of the window. Curtains and drapes When you purchase curtains or drapes the panels must be at least 2 ½ -3 times the width of the window. If you buy curtains you must buy a new curtain rod

6. Furniture You will need a desk and desk chair. The teen has a desk top computer You will need dresser or organizer for the closet to store socks, underwear and tee shirts You will need something for a 24 TV to sit on If you want you can purchase nightstands, bookcases, beanbag chairs etc.

7. Bedding The teen has a twin size bed in the room so you DO NOT need to buy a bed. But you need to buy new bedding. What is bedding? It is sheets, comforters, blankets, quilts, pillows. Do you need to buy all these items. No! You do need to buy sheets, pillows and something for warmth

8. Bedding Vocabulary Sheet Set – 1 flat sheet, 1 fitted sheet and a pillow case Bed in a Bag – 1 sheet set, a comforter, pillow sham and maybe a bed skirt Pillow sham – A decorative cover for a pillow that usually matches the comforter Comforter or bedding set – the number of pieces in the set will determine what comes in the set. A 4 piece set will have a comforter, bed skirt and 2 pillow shams. The more pieces the more items Duvet or quilt cover – it is like a giant pillow case that fits over a down or fiber fill comforter. Remember even if the picture shows them none of these items come with pillows that you sleep on
