Homework Lesson 3.13 _pg 264 #1,2,& 6

Lesson 3.13 Collinearity

Collinear Points in a set are collinear if they ALL lie on the same line.

These points appear to form a triangle. They are not collinear.

These points lie on a horizontal line. They are collinear.

Here are a few facts about points and collinearity:
Any two points are always collinear with each other, because you can draw a line that contains them both. All the points on a line are collinear with each other. A point that is not on a line CANNOT be collinear with any pair of points on the line.

Example 1 Find three ordered pairs on the graphs of π’š=𝟐 𝒙 . Are they collinear? X Y

Example 2 Find three points on the graphs of π’š+𝟐=𝟐(π’™βˆ’πŸ). Are they collinear? X Y

Example 3 Find three points on the graphs of π’š= 𝒂 Are they collinear?

Example 4 Find three points on the graphs of π’š= 𝒙 𝟐 Are they collinear? X Y
