4. Project Purpose
Inventory management has turned towards technology for better management of stock/product.
Small companies have a limited budget for even a basic system.
The team created a basic inventory system with low operating and affordable start up costs.

5. What is uBake? uBake is a inventory management system for a bakery.
The user can add, modify and update inventory.
On hand inventory can also be acquired through reports.
A barcode reader is used to enter the UPC code of the product.
A USB scale is used to enter the weight of the product.

6. Opportunities/Milestones
Team learned a new programming language: Python.
Incorporating previous SQL skills with the new Python skills.
Identify a basic inventory system functionality.
Creating the GUI interface.
Connecting the hardware devices to work with the software that was created by the team.

7. Lessons Learned
Main lesson was writing a program using Python which is a language that wasn’t taught to the team through SAIT and was learned outside of class.
Through creating the functionality of the inventory program, some of the functions had to be separated into two.
Not to assume that something will work properly the moment you plug it in.

9. Future of uBake
There can be more features added to uBake in the future such as:
Adding expiry dates for product.
Adding product that doesn’t have UPC codes.
Advanced inventory reports which would show trends in on hand product.

10. Conclusion
This project was an opportunity for the team members to utilize the skills they had acquired through the ITCS program.
It also gave us the opportunity to challenge ourselves to go outside of our knowledge to learn new programming languages.
The end result of the basic bakery inventory system was an overall team success!
