21 ID/Code and Password Protection
Programmable pass-code that ties the card printer to the host computer and disables the printer when connected to an unauthorized host Password protection – driver feature that can be set Prevents operator changes to default settings allow technicians to change

22 ID/Log Software (standard feature)
Printer Driver Software Utility Builds a customizable record of card transactions in the printer’s host computer for added security Records a user-selectable list of data including printer serial number, date, time and location. The data set can be uploaded to a central archive, thus providing a means for security offices to validate the card by comparing it with tamper-proof “real data” EIN (embedded inventory number) capability As mentioned earlier, another critical element of ID card security is database verification. Zebra’s ID/Log is a P640i driver utility builds a customizable record of card transactions in the printer’s host computer for added security. ID/Log records a user-selectable list of data including printer serial number, date, time and location. The data can be uploaded to a central archive, thus providing a means for security officers to validate the card by comparing it with tamper-proof “real data” in the archive. Card serialization can add another layer of security to the process. Zebra P640i cared printers with the magnetic stripe encoder option can be programmed to function only with serial numbered card stock, and also to add serial number to the data recorded by ID/Log. For example, all cards supplied to an organization using this system are pre-printed on the front or back with a serial number, which is also recorded on the card's magnetic stripe. The P640i card printer can be configured to accept only serial numbered cards, and will eject without printing any card without the appropriate magnetic encoding. If a valid serial number is detected, the card is printed in the usual way. The serial number encoded in the magnetic stripe is recorded in the printer's host computer, where it is linked with the license number and other data such as date, time, and location. This data set is available for uploading at any time to the organization's central database. The result an automatic database link between the ID card and a serial number that the security officer can read on the spot without special equipment. When transmitted to the central database, the serial number can in turn trigger a download to a local terminal. Now, in addition to the usual comparison of photo and subject, it is easy to check – instantly – the correlation of serial number and credentials.

23 ID/Key (Optional hardware device)
Security device intended to prevent unauthorized use of the printer Rugged semiconductor contained by metal and covered in plastic Metal key is a spoon shaped fob which is inserted into frame of printer Each semiconductor has a factory etched, unique and permanent identification number ID/Key is electronically read by printer, if code is correct, printer is enabled When printer is not in use, simply remove it and store it in a secure place The optional id key is a security device intended to prevent unauthorized use of the printer. It consists of a rugged semiconductor contained in metal and looks somewhat like an oversized calculator battery with a key. The metal is surrounded by a plastic, spoon shaped fob which allows it to be easily transported and inserted into a receptacle under the front cover in the printer center frame. Each semiconductor has a factory etched, unique and permanent identification number. When the ID Key is inserted into its receptacle, it is read by printer electronically. If the code is correct, the printer is enabled to print. If no ID Key is inserted, the printer is disabled and will not function. The ID/Key is basically a non-alterable memory containing a unique 64-bit serial number. On power-up, this is compared with a serial number stored in the printer’s non-volatile RAM. If the serial numbers fail to match, or if no ID/Key is detected, the printer is disabled. The ID key should be removed and locked in safe placed when printer is not being use. Finally, a way of making sure your P640i card printer can be operated only by authorized personnel. The optional ID/Key is a security feature that disables the printer when removed and prevents unauthorized printer use. The ID/Key is basically a non-alterable memory containing a unique 64-bit serial number. On power-up, this is compared with a serial number stored in the printer’s non-volatile RAM. If the serial numbers fail to match, or if no ID/Key is detected, the printer is disabled.

24 Industrial Design – Smaller and Lighter
Enclosure with transparent viewing windows Dual door system for easy access to two separate areas of the printer Card Feeder (150 – 30mil cards) Printer and laminator station Viewing windows allows monitoring of printing process Removable card exit hopper Lightweight design Small footprint for dual process (print & laminate) printer Let’s take a closer look at the printer itself…This new industrial design is a result of the best of the best features from our other top printing and laminating printers, the P520, 620, and 720 and also the combined efforts of our engineering teams, the Camarillo team’s expertise in plastics and high volume manufacturing, and recently acquired Atlantek team’s expertise in laminating printers. It has a dual door system for easy access to the card feeder and the print and laminate stations. The transparent viewing windows for monitoring the printing process, blue customer touch points for ease of use, one piece cleaning cartridge again making this printer easy to maintain, the easy to load card feeder, removable card exit hopper, small footprint, and a very light weight printer. Zebra has been well known for our easy to use desktop printers. We’ve taken this ease of use concept and making the first security printer laminator system mainstream and more approachable for an everyday user. Traditionally, printing laminating systems, both dye sub and retransfer required the user to make many adjustments just to properly print and laminate on a card. The 640i is designed to address this concern, we taken out the manual adjustment requirements, making this printer laminator just as easy to use as our smaller desktop printers. We want those customers who were typically afraid they were not technical enough to keep a printer and laminating system up and running to operate this system with confidence.

25 Next Generation Card Transport Mechanism
High efficiency, micro-positioning card transport Advantages Micro-printing capability Better edge definition for crisper fine details Precision card registration for best color printing during Y-M-C printing process Consistent high quality graphics Increased card printing speed Zero card slippage No cleaning required of card transport mechanism No user intervention Let’s take a look at the card transport mechanism. This is the device that actually carries the card through the machine. It follows the P640i lead screw design with increased speed. Some of the advantages of this system are: Since we can micro step the card, we print very small text (micro printing) Very sharp barcodes with better edge definition and graphics with crisper details Precision card registration allows for superior color printing giving us consistent high quality graphics The card carriage or truck gives us zero card slippage, which results in sharper higher quality printed images And finally, and one of the most important benefits No routine cleaning of printer and less user intervention, which helps save time and money for the end user

26 Advanced Printing Station
Ribbons with i Series technology Auto ribbon detection for easier printer driver set up Active printhead lift for easier ribbon loading Ribbon button on control panel for automatic ribbon synchronization The print station----this printer uses I Series technology, again making it easier to use. This feature will automatically configure the printer driver with the ribbon that is being installed, making it more error proof. We have even made ribbon loading easier. When the enclosure door is opened the printhead actually lifts up allowing for better access to load ribbons. Once closed the ribbon will synchronize or you can simply touch the button on the control panel to synchronize the ribbon.

27 Ribbon Specifications
Print Ribbons YMCK images per roll (matches laminate count) YMCKK images per roll YMCUvK images per roll Security custom codes available For large projects ribbons can be RFID encoded with unique security customer codes Ribbon Specifications Print Ribbons YMCK, YMCKK, YMCUvK (500 images) Laminate Ribbons 1.0 mil thick protective material , Linerless & wastefree (no carrier) Clear and holographic (600 cards per roll) Near edge protection (full size) Mag stripe & signature panel cards (1/2 size) Smart cards (full size with window cut-out)

28 Reliable Dual-Sided “One-Pass” Lamination
Upper & Lower Heated Rollers Simultaneously Laminate Front and Back of Cards Two Laminate Cassettes Houses front & back laminate rolls 600 capacity 1.0mil laminate Color coded (blue touch point) Cassettes removable and refillable Quick tabs locks cassettes in place Let’s move on to the laminator. It’s a reliable Dual Sided “One-Pass” Laminating station. Again, we focused on making this station very intuitive, any item that can be touched by the user has the blue color as a recognizable touch point, making it somewhat less intimidating to the user. The laminator has two heat rollers that simultaneously laminate the front and back of the card as it passes through with heat and pressure. Once laminated the card exits the machine. It houses two cassettes to hold the Upper & Lower laminate. The cassettes removable and refillable, and there are tabs that lock the cassettes in place. This feature makes sure that the cassettes are seated properly reducing patch skew and patch jams. Another ease of use focus.

29 Patent Pending Card Cleaning
Easy to Load Cleaning Cartridge Cleans both sides of the card before printing Removes lint & debris from card that could hamper color quality Color coded (blue touch point) Disposable Cleans up to 3,000 cards per cartridge Another example of the best of the best features is the blue cleaning cartridge which very easy to load and remove as it is one piece. Zebra holds a cleaning card patent that many of our competitors have tried to copy. You are all probably familiar with the adhesive roller based cleaning cartridge used on our smaller desktop printers. The 640i cleaning cartridge follows that design as well, it cleans both sides of the card before printing to remove lint & debris from card that could hamper color quality. It ships with the adhesive tape already installed in the cartridge, it is removable and once used up, you simply throw it away. Each cartridge cleans up to 3,000 cards. The clean cycle frequency can also be changed if needed. If the application environment is very dusty than you simply increase the clean cycle frequency. The cleaning cartridge helps to increase the duty cycle of the printer.
