3 OUR MISSION By God’s grace, to grow God’s Kingdom in Cumbria

4 OUR VISION Is to see our Churches growing Disciples of all ages.

5 STATEMENT OF SUCCESS Our objectives will be grouped under 5 headings:
Maturity in faith Prayer and worship Community service Evangelism Quality of Relationships So that: Over the next ten years, we will be able to identify the extent to which growth in discipleship is actually taking place.

6 1. MATURITY IN FAITH An Adult Christian Basics
course running annually in each mission cluster. A significant increase in per capita giving. Every Church member knowing and using his/her gifts in Christian Service. Steady growth in vocations (incl. Ordinands; Readers; CLMs) Discipleship training at various levels available to all.

7 2. PRAYER AND WORSHIP An active prayer group meeting regularly in every community. A variety of worship styles within each mission cluster. At least one ‘fresh expression’ within each mission cluster. A youth congregation in each Deanery. A strategy for making the most of Special Occasions in every benefice.

8 3. COMMUNITY SERVICE At least one Social Action project for every local church. A significant increase in Church buildings equipped and used for multi-purpose service within the community. Every congregation informed about and giving to at least one national and one international charity or project. Network of Urban and Rural contacts (2 per Deanery) working with Urban and Rural Officers. A scheme for encouraging and supporting Ministry at Work in every benefice.

9 4. EVANGELISM A significant increase in Usual Sunday Attendance.
A Mission Action Plan for each mission cluster. A process Evangelism Course (e.g. ‘Lost for Words’) run annually in each mission cluster. At least one ‘pioneer minister’ in each Deanery. At least 2 designated and trained evangelists in each parish.

10 5. QUALITY OF RELATIONSHIP
Cumbria a designated ‘Ecumenical Area’. Small groups meeting regularly in every benefice. Regular social activities in every parish. Trained Welcomers in each church. Regular provision of Parenting and Marriage Enrichment course in each Deanery.

11 STRATEGY Leadership Lay Ministry Local Planning Long-term mission

12 LEADERSHIP Strategy for ordained ministry
Invest at least 80% of budget on local ministry Encourage and support every benefice in developing a leadership team

13 LAY MINISTRY Support and resources to enable lay people to grow in maturity. Equip lay people with skills and resources to make disciples.

14 LOCAL PLANNING Ensure that every benefice develops and implements a Mission Action Plan. Ensure that Diocesan structures and processes enable local ecumenical initiative. Promote innovative use of Church buildings.

15 LONG-TERM MISSION Listening to God.
Costed strategy for reaching whole population. Youth congregations and segmentation.
