1 Teen Xone Financial Club
Giving our children a fighting chance! Teen Xone Financial Club

2 Monthly Financial Modules
Admittance to the club includes: Monthly Financial Modules Financial Class will issue modules given twice a week. The modules scheduled small so the students will be able to focus on their own school work and extracurricular activities. Each module is about 20 minutes long.

3 Expense tracking (monthly)
Teen Club Expense tracking (monthly) Students will begin by writing down their finances for a month on the chart provided. AFTER they do this, students will begin by writing down desired purchases that THEY find important – there are no wrong answers.

4 Students MUST work with their parents, a peer, or a mentor (parents/partner/mentor must work with the student) during the school year budget education.

5 Creating Budget The student will create a mock budget which will include some real life and age appropriate situations based on what they said was important.

6 Budget Management Students will be given mock money to use during this course to have and handle during this course. Each student will start off making an imitation $1000 monthly. Trust me, I know you’ll be making more money in time.

7 NOTE: A monthly schedule might be easier for starting off.
Paying Bills Students can choose whether to have a monthly or by weekly pay schedule. This choice will be made between students and parents. If the student and parent can agree, the teacher will be more than happy to make a selection. NOTE: A monthly schedule might be easier for starting off.

8 Paying Bills However, the student will make up their own budget, that includes real life obligations and desires that they have, but it will be their responsibility to figure out and put money in their necessary places. An example budget will be given.

9 Learn To Pay For Other Expenses Using Mock Money
Students will have to pay their bills at the end of the pay schedule. The parent or mentor will act as the bill collector. This gives students the idea of paying for purchases.

10 Facebook Discussion Group
The student will be given admittance in Teen Xone Private Financial club Facebook group. Students and parents can freely talk about their progress and issues. NOTE: A more complete run-down of what the class/club has to offer is listed at the end of this presentation.

11 We WILL NOT rush. The plan is for the young student to develop skills for a lifetime. The purpose of the club is to teach long-term habits for the student to have and hold over time.

12 THIS is what we want to get the child to avoid.
We want to teach students to manage money into their adulthood, NOT to be overwhelmed by debt Again: the purpose of the club is to teach long-term habits for the student to have, hold, and to teach their children over time.

13 What the Class and Club Entails
OVERALL IN SUMMARY: What the Class and Club Entails Monthly Financial Modules Creating Budget Budgeting Management Paying Mock Bills mock money Learn to pay for other expenses using mock money Learning to modify the budget during ‘lean’ months Expense tracking (monthly) Develop saving skills through saving their mock money and actual money Comparison shopping to get a better deal

14 What the Class and Club Entails
OVERALL IN SUMMARY: What the Class and Club Entails Each month the student will be given a CHALLENGE PROBLEM and/or assignment to learn to work through. By each month’s end, they must show, via a report, how they learned to solved these problems. Each month the student will be given assignment to keep what they learned fresh. Ex: Some months will have them repeat comparison shopping. This is because comparison shopping is a skill that we as adults use in almost every day life. Students/parents will have admittance to their own private FB club where they can talk to other students about their experience and challenges. Parents are invited to give helpful advice. NOTE: For good success, it is necessary for the student to work with another peer, their parent, or a mentor.

15 What the Class and Club Entails
OVERALL IN SUMMARY: What the Class and Club Entails NOTE: For good success, it is necessary for the student to work with another peer, their parent, or a mentor. SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS: Parents if your child works outside of the home, kudos to them. While I recognize that many parents expect their children to contribute to household expenses once their children start working, please allow them to have a fighting chance. I recommend that a child contributes $30 for a recurring bill while teaching them to save their monies. I DO NOT recommended taking practically their entire check to ‘teach them how hard it is out their’. That’s what this class is for.

16 So come on. What are you waiting for?
Let’s give our teens the best financial chance! Music:
