To send and receive messages throughout the body; coordinate the whole body

It has extensions for receiving and sending messages (nerve impulses)

Guard cells have chloroplasts. Their main job is to open and close the leaf’s stomata.

to control the opening and closing of stomata (holes in leaf); let CO2 & O2 in and out
