The Film is a quasi- biographical story of hearts Welles kept the production a secret Hearst threatened to sue for libel, blackmail Hollywood and expose their personal lives (including welles affair), attack their immigration hiring practices and wouldn’t allow any rko films to be promoted in his newspapers, radio stations etc. The major studio bosses offered to buy out the print and destroy it for $800,000 Rko refused, but thousands of theaters wouldn’t show it because of fear from hearst
